..And if some terrible shit never happens and you just keep making money, that would mean that you're going to be stupid till you die...One thing for sure, you'll have no shortage of company.

This years "Hood and Holistic" 2021 2nd Annual Organic Spring Market turned out to be all about connections, choas, customer service.
I had faith that all the vendors would sell out, but what I didn't expect was the connections that were formed amongst the attendees. I was reminded that markets are not just for selling good and services.
Here' what one vendor wrote.
Pay attention to signs, it is what it looks like.
We all at some point in our lives have ignored signs of warning but, what about the positive aspects of life’s signs. This past winter during one of my times of meditation I shared with my higher source my desire to be part of a sisterhood, a spiritual family, and a holistic network. This weekend my manifesting came to pass. Thank you @feverssidechicks for allowing me to be apart of your vendor family.
In business at least ours we are constantly in the state of what I like to call organized choas. I have held several events before. I have produced stage plays in several cities and the outcome always comes out like we planned. So why am I so anxious, nervous and flustered. Learning to channel your emotions into focus can be challenging especially when you THINK something will go haywire.
Here's what an attendee and family friend wrote:
ABSOLUTELY SURE that I've always seen clearly yo stank shit, I just happen to be linked in to your Family and I also see your potential, but everybody has 'some' potential, and I simply aimed to support that, your 'potential'...But sweetheart, thieves, murderers and dumb stupid insensitive inconsiderate bitches make millions all over the world everyday for millenniums, if that's good enough for you, it's certainly available in abundance, but if you think that's the TRUTH, you're ignorant as fuck! And girl if you don't have enough discernment to see that you have nothing that I need or want, you clearly don't even have the potential for potential...What's mostly unfortunate is that if you treat gentle kind generous 'me' like you did, you treat everyone like that, and it's so entrenched that you probably won't be able to change unless some terrible shit happens to yo ass...And if some terrible shit never happens and you just keep making money, that would mean that you're going to be stupid till you die...One thing for sure, you'll have no shortage of company...And I swear I ain't mad at you and my feelins ain't hurt in the least, rather, I feel sorry for you...💜💜💜🖤
This one right here was a whirlwind. Behind the layers of profanity I did find some jewels.
I am learning that positive thinking is the #1 key to hosting an successful event.
I can be a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time.
I wanted coffee and conversation after that whirlwind. Her front door was open and coffee was brewing, typical. My mother offered me an apple fritter. I sat at her kitchen table and took a sip of coffee. So how did the event go? She remained quiet. I spoke, I got a text from a mutual friend. I read her the text.
I think you should work on making sure your product and customer service is on point. She took a sip of her coffee and asked for a trip to the bank to pay her bills.

Today is 12/29/2019. The New Year is approaching, and looking back over the past twelve months it was experimental to say the most.
(Deep Breaths Relax Deep Breath Complications Deep Breaths Its a boy)....
In February we added a little king by the name of Wisdom to our tribe. By March 9th we were well into our first event. Fever's Grill and Juice Bar and Market hosted the Organic Spring Market! I wanted to prepare our vegan soul food menu and used fennel. Fennel can be found in foods like sausage, or in Indian restaurants in the place of mints, it is also a natural laxative. We absolutely learned so much about recipes , organizing, failures, and budgets. ( Deep Breath..shit deep Breath keep going)
April and May was filled with graduation attention. Twiggy as I like to call her and business partner double down and received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Alabama A&M University. (Tears of joy Breath) We held a Detox Retreat at the end May. Planned a weekend of events, with paints and sip & facials and ended with the talented and beautiful Sole. (Yoga Meditation Breath Good Job)
Rest was needed and we headed to Miami. Restaurants skirted the edges of the sidewalks blasting music and smoking hookahs. That's Fever's Grill and Juice Bar and Market vibe?.
By July Our Birmingham Black Veg Fest had fizzled to a cookout. The sun blazed and I was hot, hormonal and the vibe I felt in Miami for Fever's hadn't registered yet. (Yoga Yoga Yoga shit Yoga)
August we held a Lingerie Party in Indianapolis In and everyone there was open to receiving. (Relax Good Job Shit Relax)We lost Nipsey and I turned 45. (I can't relax, Breath)
September I packed my winter clothes for Alabama.( Breath, You'll make it Breath) Drove the eight long hours listening to the best 2019 new artist Elli Mae Shot Clock , Meek Mill got out banging, Meg the Stallion, Wale on Chill, Ari Lennox, Drake and for motivation Pastor TD Jakes. Parked and got to work. We cleared the lot at our location @1001 3rd Ave West. So that we can create our Miami vibe with plants, flowers, food trucks, music and hookah for 2020.
October I connected with new associates experienced in business. I wanted a new heating and air unit and reached out to Tasmanian Heating and Air. I never received my heating unit and he never gave my money back. (Yoga... Meditation..... Breath..right Prayer..chill.) Good thing I used my credit card. The home remodeling business leaves no prisoners. It rarely works out like the shows on HGTV.
November we painted a 10 x 50 trailer to add to our vision.More traveling more fasting. (Meditation, stay focused) December we adopted Fevers on Fridays inviting food trucks and vendors out. (Really Slow Breath Be patient don't Quit)
The goals we desired in 2019 accomplished. Some of our test we failed Some we passed God Willing we will get another opportunity to try again.
2020.......
Happy New Year Entrepreneurs.
Soul House Retreat 2020.
GO PLACIDLY
amid the noise and the haste, remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

At one point I learned transcendental meditation. This was 30-something years ago. It took me back to the way that I naturally was as a child growing up way in the country, rarely seeing people. I was in that state of oneness with creation and it was as if I didn't exist except as a part of everything.
Alice Walker
My journey to find clarity and peace is so important to me. To be a successful business owner I must learn how to be a successful person. Success looks like controlling thoughts, patience, gratitude, and love.
Being in love and in control of yourself requires learning. We are never taught to sit in silence, timeout was punishment. Learning our breaths, touching our hearts and knowing its beats. Tapping into divine energy and staying connected. Knowing your now, is directly related to everything in this universe and beyond.
You cannot find this through conversation, You cannot find this through food, alcohol, family or friends. Its an inward experience a party of oneness.
This weekend we rarely spoke it was more about doing. I never realized how important it is to channel the you in you.
Oneness is defined as being unified or whole, though comprised of two or more parts.
I strive to be whole in world of insecurities, constantly changing and moving at light speed. Stillness is the key for that. Quietness is for that. Listening for the downloads from our higher power, and learning and growing from what we hear.
I realized that one is not the loneliest number It is zero.
Soul House had the opportunity to host over 20 women. We had several women cancel due to personal issues and one who could not complete the detox.
On Friday - "Pamper Me Pajama Party". teach women about the effects of retail brand deodorant, toothpaste, soaps and cosmetics etc. We challenged women that participated to not use their traditional necessities rather use Soul House all natural line of products. As well as taught them how to make their own.
On Saturday- Meditation , Yoga, Gluts and Abs Workout, Light Walk, Working in the Garden. Hosted Sip and Stroke.
On Sunday-Sole' guided a ceremonial workshop that was explainable. You would have had to be there.
On Sunday I also got the chance to interview Sole'. I asked her what was she missing in her life and her reply was nothing, I have everything I need. Being me I rephrased the question and asked again, surely she misunderstood. Her reply
"The only thing world needs more of is Love and I have that".

3 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
]]>Recently I became a grandmother and a proud mother of a graduate from Alabama A&M University. While opening up my home to my only son to help him get back on track. It didn't take long before he had a full time job and began to take the neccessary steps to completing his goals. I am extremely proud of all my children and I am blessed that I have them alive and well.
Each experience was a happy one. The empty nest had me looking back over my life and I did not like what I saw. I focused so much on the best of times I never gave myself permission to recovery from the bad days. I never truly healed from the abandonment, mental, physical and sexual abuse, death and that never ending list that mother's have. The build up was so strong that I have now been crying for days. Today I am realizing it is prefectly fine to cry.
Here's the strange part. Noone asked me if I was ok. Noone wanted to hear me out. I heard you are a negative person just bringing up drama. This type of mindset is truly sad. Whats even sadder is I was once that person because its how I knew to cope with trauma. Keep it to yourself and don't say nothing.
I can recall me telling my mom about an distressing experience I suffered as child. She looked at me and kept talking like I had not said a word. I kept talking too. I can also recall my children coming to me with emotional grief and I can clearly hear me saying suck it up or we got business to handle. This type of damaging behavior is unacceptable. The cycle of pain, hurt, and family dysfunction has to start with open communication. No matter how difficult the conversations.
I see it like this, When you cut your finger the worse pain is afterwards. Touching the cut and bumping it on something hurts like hell. Only when I say this finger is hurt and stop using it, finding myself using my right had although I'm a lefty to avoid hurting my finger. I pay attention to my finger. I watch it heal.
Why don't we pay attention to our mental health. We ignore feelings so long it turns into a slow recovery. It took my over twenty-five years to reveal and release pain. I encourage you not to wait so long.
I need balance in my life. If I am hurting I should be able to express that. The facts are stress is a disease and can kill. So Mothers if you need to hit the pause button on life and take some time to reevaluate do just that, and don't ask permission.
Here are some tips.
Reach out to someone who will listen.
Accept your feelings. Allow yourself to feel without shame or guilt
Speak positive affirmations while dealing with your with unhappy emotions.
Do yoga and meditation to keep calm
Write down your thoughts.
Avoid alcohol or drugs during this time.
Seek professional help
If you feel like crying let the tears flow.
Family ask your mother is she ok, or is there anything she would like to talk about. You may hear something you don't like, but thats okay. Be quiet, listen and gain understanding your time for healing will come soon enough.

April 12,2019 Phone rings: Hey Momma. Its my business partner and daughter Miesha. I was thinking, now that things are up and running don't you think we should be giving back.
Yes we should. Daughter.
Soul House Retreat provides a space for individual, couples, families, and anyone who wishes to getaway and enjoy a peaceful enviroment surrounded by positive energy.
We want to part of the solution in keeping families together alive and well. Our program is called Mamie's House because someone we loved dearly died to domestic violence.
We want to open our house to those who feel they have no place to go and so they remain in abusive and toxic situations. I know cause I've been there.
We want to show individuals how to cope with relationships. Instead of resorting to physical and mental abuse. I grew up in it.
Physical and Mental abuse is real, especially to the victims and most victims return to that enviroment. I did.
There is no better way to give back than something your passionate about and believe in.
We will be reaching out those effected by domestic violence to offer what we have. A place to retreat and enjoy a peaceful enviroment in a positive surrounding. Please call 205.381.6951 to let us know how we can help.

As a business women if I want to be successful I will need to come out of the shell. Working for myself has been a dream of mine since I was child. While other children played I was somewhere quietly thinking; mostly joining in to play store or acting like a character on TV.
Today I am a spirit moved individual. When something begins to tug at me I stop, listen and surrender. Yesterday I was obedient to my creator and reached out to a few business associates and who knows what will come from these connections. The tugging to connect was more about taking a leap of faith than connecting. I've realized that success does not come easy there is cost not associated with money.
I'm still a simple women as my grandmother. I am also a business women wanting to leave a legacy of wealth and inspiration to my children. The struggle will be merging those two worlds.

The best way to prepare for and break your with a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables, here's some guidance:
3 Days before – If you eat meat, you should phase it out now - with veggies and a salad of course!
2 Days before - Green salads should be your staple at this point. If you’re craving some more sustenance, you may choose a bit of plain brown rice, or a yam or sweet potato.
Day 1-Raw or lightly steamed veggies

It's also a restaurant that focuses on the prevention and reversal of sickness and poor health.

We're striving to become a firm rooted business, with the type of values that our elders will be proud to support. This isn't just a farmers market, it's the beginning of something much bigger. We hope to educate others on healthier lifestyles, starting with great nutritional enriched foods and water. Then the development of cheap energy saver and producing techniques. Next, creative business development. Last, but not least, provide next level motivational methods to help ensure that our future generations are pointed and encouraged on taking a path of integrity. Remember, sowing positive seeds is a good thing, cause after all, you reap what you sow.
Thanks!
I haven’t always been on a quest to live healthy and fulfilled. In fact, I was living in the fast lane striving for what I thought was “the life.” I had a successful career, two amazing sons and a house in the suburbs, but my high pressure, big stress lifestyle was leaving me de-energized, empty and sick.
I strived to have it all, but failed multiple times in many aspects of my life. Striving for perfection was futile, but striving for fulfillment and significance was purposeful. I learned this through living an unhealthy life filled with deadlines, stress and bad eating habits.
You can change things up. You have the choice to live healthy. I made the choice and feel better than ever and you can too.
We’ve been given one life to live and that means it’s our responsibility to live it well by having choosing to be healthy.
A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about exercise and nutrition, it’s about shifting mindsets that don’t serve you well and bringing in a spiritual component to sustain you.

Love is Communication
I read in a book. (Paraphrasing)
The average number of words spoken and heard each day in general conversation is approximately 20,000 words .
7,000 are misunderstood/misinterpretated
2,000 are used to hurt others
2,000 are not heard
500 are cuss words/abusive words
2,000 are grammatically incorrect
2,000 are mispronounced
And
2000 are just unnecessary
We waste 17,500 basically
Out of that
2,500 words are actually CLEARLY communicated.
So what are you really saying and listening to? Are you intentional with what you say? Carefully select your words.

Others like stability, but I flow with change, one day I may be selling purses the next day houses. My daddy told me" the one thing that's constant is change". I've worked in sales and customer service. I started out as rapper in the early nineties, I never quit I just transformed my lyrics into business models. I turned my writings into a play, my thoughts into Retreat Homes, and every now and then I pick up the mic, just to see if I still got it.
In 2015 I produced a stage play entitled, Hoodrich The Play it is a dramatic comedy about a music label, written by my sisters and I. The first play was held in Indianapolis,In at Crispus Attucks High School, a school specifically built for the young african american minds during segragation. Crispus Attucks himself was once and slave and protestor. The school also has a beautiful musuem that has captured Indianapolis black culture. After that we took the play to Joliet, Il then to Huntsville Al.
I've also produced pool parties, hair shows and competitions, award ceromonies, model searches and competitions, a television show and hosted a talk show. I performed my music live rocking stages across the south. I had a ball and great memories doing every one.
I wanna teach yoga and meditation classes. I been a vegatarian for over a year and it has changed my life. I like making natural juices, and I am mastering the art of cooking vegan soul food. I figure the easiest way to convince my tribe to eat better is by offering a different version of the foods they love.
I am so proud of all three of grown children. They are young, learning and happy. My best friend is my husband.
I currently own Soul House Retreat, a home in the urban community that offers bed and spa services. I am co-owner of Pink Vulva Yoni Steam and Herbal Bath and opening a Vegan Restaurant ~Fever's Grill Juice Bar and Market. The restaurant is named after my brother who died in 1999 due to gun violence.
I am all this, I am none of this, I am dope af, I am...forever changing.
March 9th I will be hosting the first of many Organic Markets in Birmingham Al @the home of Fevers Grill be there.

Began your process, it does not matter how many other businesses are doing the same thing. No two business plans are alike. Furthermore companies may go out of business or are not capable of offering quality customer service.
As well, take care of yourself. Starting a business can be frustrating but your mind is something you have control over. Start your day off with meditation, breathing or physical excerises. Our motto at Soul House Retreat is Eat Organic, Live Well, Relax often. This formula is essential in achieving a better you.
Lastly, Strike while the iron is hot. A year from now you are going to wish you started today. Once you start don't stop. The day you quit is the day you stop winning.

Here's one of his recipes
Chow Chow of Peas.
Take one quart of tender peas in the pod, one quart of shelled green peas, one quart of green tomatoes, chopped, one quart of chopped onions, one pint of chopped peppers (half green and half ripe) half a cup of white mustard seed, half cup of salt, four stalks of celery chopped fine. Add sugar and curry powder to taste. The peas should be put into cold water and brought to a boil, drop in a lump of soda the size of a pea, boil until one-third cooked, drain water off thoroughly, wash in cold water, drain and chop before adding the other ingredients. Cover with cold vinegar.

]]>Its an old tradition in some black communities to cook black eye peas and greens for the new year. The black eye peas are for good luck and the greens are for money. As this New Years rolls in Soul House Retreat and all its counterparts(Fever's Grill Juice Bar Market & Pink Vulva & Blaclunar23 Want to send out positive vibes and a prosperity manifestation.
Remember health is wealth and food is medicine! With that being said I would like to thank one of our great ancestors George Washington Carver for bringing the black eye pea to the sustanence forefront.
Carver was an African-American scientist, botanist, educator, and inventor. The exact day and year of his birth are unknown, but he is believed to have been born into a slave family in Missouri, in the early 1860’s. He published 44 bulletins on the cultivation and use of a range of these crops, and a number of them contained recipes. Bulletin No. 13 How to Cook the Cow Pea, published in 1908

]]>When I think back to my childhood memories they are hard to recollect I normally end up calling my big sis who has the memory of an elephant. The other day I was peeling sweet potatoes for our new pop up vegan restaurant and I heard my uncle Donnie's voice who is no longer with us in the flesh say "Hey Pooh" you doing good! then he laughed. The sound of his laughter was good to hear. Like I said childhood memories are very faint. Even so I do remember one time I cut my foot on a piece of glass as child and he was there. I cried heavily seeing so much blood and he soothed my fears and then gave me money. He'd done it again I thought! sooth my fears about opening up a new restaurant, in new city, and having little food industry knowledge. Thanks Unc now show me the money!
My adult life can get so busy that I forget basic life rules. So today a status I posted 4 years ago popped up in my memories
The first memory says I will go anywhere-provided it is forward. When an entrepreneur sets out on an idea they have to be willing to risk a lot. Most won't understand the logic behind your moves. A year ago I was comfortably running a small rental car business and due to some great financial planning I'd bought a condo that would allow me to live rent free. This new vegan restaurant is so essential to urban communities, I would no doubt felt like a was missing something in my life had I made the choice to continue on a different path in my comfortable little condo.
Which leads me to the second FB memory. My spiritual relationship with the creator has never steered me wrong. The scripture above talks about imitating Christ like humility. Humility can be a hard lesson to learn. Offering compassion and tenderness to those that don't reciprocate it is the hardest thing for me, but today I will make it my business to please the creator and try to imitate the creators beautiful spirit!
This blog is entitled "Journaling the business of life. It is a way for me to easily reminiscence certain occasions and people at pivotal moments on my business journey.
The importance of cherishing your memories can help shape your character or remembering why you started out on your new venture can aid that motivation. So kudos to Facebook for adding a little motivation to my day. Now off to get pedicures #RelaxOften #EatOrganic #LiveWell

One day I was the owner of a car rental company and then life happened. The very next I was CFO of Pink Vulva Yoni Steam and Herbal Baths managing sales and marketing loading my car at 5:30 am heading to Chicago IL to hold an hour conference on Black Art and the Power of Healing. It happened so quick and as rode the three hours from Indianapolis to Chicago something assured me that this was pivotal moment in my life

My daughter who is an artist; rode alongside and was there to live paint while I was to convey the importance of vaginal steaming. Pink Vulva Yoni Steam and Herbal Bath was created by my eldest daughter. Knowing her personally the product is easy to sell but as marketer I needed to communicate our long talks about natural healing to the conference participants . Our team totally believes in the healing properties that herbs has on the body, but the herbs mental and spiritual premise is astonishing. Vaginal steaming is known for potentially removing any unwanted and toxic realities while awakening the wombs natural function, to create life ie. babies and ideas.
Not remembering that I'd steamed a few days before my career abruptly changed course. Not recognizing as I rode three hours spending quality time with my youngest daughter. Not actually listening to myself speak about the womb wanting to call my own mom and say I Love You. Not until journaling in my blog did I realize the herbs and universe were working in my favor.
For me, I can sometimes make my life difficult but I am beginning to realize that having control over my life is not as important has the openness to be present in whatever the universe brings my way.
